Just a few simple things about me.
First off – I am a single mom to two skunky little punks, that I love with all my heart and can’t honestly tell you why. My daughter (9yrs) has recently been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. We like to tease her that it is fitting. One minute, she is the sweetest bug you will ever meet, and then the next… there is not an ounce of sweetness in her. She was born with attitude to spare. My son (13yrs) is my right arm most days. He is a mama’s boy, but sadly, still a teenage boy. From a young age, we already knew he had ADHD and some nasty anxiety episodes. He is an artist that does not believe in himself, so when I can, I have him help with the artwork for my covers.
Life has never really been all that easy. I have anxiety myself, so I understand my son most days. I was raised by a single mom, passed between both parents. I’ve had multiple car accidents, a survivor of nearly all types of abuse, have Chiari Malformation (a disability regarding the positioning of my brain), have had brain surgery…oh and I teach English to teenagers. Life is always full of surprises.
Many of my books have main characters that struggle with various issues, from anxiety, to surviving. I use my life experiences, and those of my friends to bring my characters to life. I want the world to know what goes on in the mind of someone who is living in the darkest points. Even how they got there, without knowing it was happening. That wool can be mighty thick sometimes.
Reading has always been my escape when I need it. During COVID, writing joined the club. Now, I want to give others a chance to escape as well.
